Central Plaza - History
Our history

Central Plaza began as one man’s wish to build something different. Serge de Kantzow, Director of Land Equity Corporation, was responsible for the project’s inception and ethos in the 1980s.

His architectural design brief set the challenge of Central Plaza becoming an international architectural statement for Brisbane.

The design was created by internationally renowned architect Dr Kisho Kurokawa. His design of the exterior of Central Plaza reflects the contours of a fine crystal, with glass windows that score the sheer white walls and connect with the glass curtain of the building’s splayed corners.

Our history

The use of glass creates a symbiotic relationship between the interior and exterior.

The glass atrium in the foyer connects those inside to the outside, and the narrow streets surrounding Central Plaza are reflected in the areas of the foyer, where public and private spaces coexist.

Dr Kisho Kurokawa’s conscientious designs, combined with Serge de Kantzow’s grand vision, resulted in a distinctively modern and timeless building.

Today, Central Plaza’s unique and ultra-modern design is sophisticated and contributes to the striking icon that is a feature in the Brisbane skyline.

Spaces

The sleek exterior of Central Plaza is inspired by crystal, with each corner of the square tower cut away and glazed with reflective glass.

With an impressive 40 floors, Central Plaza delivers expansive views of the bustling CBD, Brisbane River and Story Bridge. The sweeping views transform from level to level, the higher the building rises.

From the foyer to the lifts and commuter centre, Central Plaza promotes innovation, functionality and a dash of sophistication.

Designed by architect Dr Kisho Kurokawa, an integral part of Central Plaza, the Annex has been reimagined, adding vibrant life to Central Plaza day and night.  

Chilled bars, restaurants and cool cafes flow through the Annex laneway, from Queen Street to Eagle Street.  

FitPoint is a purpose-designed, end-of-trip facility, providing the building community with stylish amenities to use throughout the workday.
